Condor Ferries are what we’d describe as an ‘up and coming’ ferry operator. If they were a football team they would be recently promoted to the premiership with a promising squad and a sizeable transfer kitty. They initially set up as a Channel Island specialist and carved out a fine reputation in this niche and quickly became many passengers ferry of choice for trips to Guernsey and Jersey.

Current special offers include :

Condor Ferries now offer French crossings and are servicing St Malo for access to the popular holiday destination of Brittany and also Cherbourg which is quickly becoming a destination town to rival Calais in terms of cheap food, drink and bargain DIY supplies. Condor has an impressive and frequently updated range of offers available with major discounts and even FREE fares available.  We give them a high rating based on the following unique benefits they offer. They provide the fastest available car crossings to Brittany and passenger and car crossings to Guernsey. A major plus point over competitors such as Brittany Ferries for when time is of the essence and you’re keen to get to your holiday underway.

Condor Ferries User Review

Condor FerriesAuthor's product rating :   5 Stars
Customer Service on Board : Friendly as always
Activities on Board : Plenty but not over the top so there is time to relax
Value for Money : Spot on
Advantages : Weymouth is far less hectic than some bigger ports and Condor are excellent
Disadvantages : It took a while to disembark at St Malo due to a problem with an outgoing cargo ship
Recommend to potential buyers : Yes, certainly.

With only 2 weeks a year family holiday time every moment counts, and so it is important to me that the journey to my destination is a pleasurable part of the holiday.  With 2 young children aged 4 and 1.5 this can present quite a challenge.

We chose to travel with Condor Ferries as we have done for the past 2 years and managed to take advantage of their ‘kids go free’ offer which certainly helps if like us you’re on a tight budget. For us Condor not only represents truly good value but also a comfortable, relaxed and stress free start to our holiday.

The ferry is always very clean, the staff friendly, helpful and efficient. The cabins though cosy are a good size with ample room to accommodate not only 2 adults and 2 children but also all our luggage and baby paraphernalia. It was easy to book a cabin that fitted our requirements and it was on one of the levels close to all the facilities.

The restaurants provide both child friendly meal options as well as highchairs and there is plenty of choice for the adults too. The crossing goes quite quickly as there is plenty to do on board and we arrived at St. Malo feeling rested and relaxed.  We chose to travel from the traditional English seaside town of Weymouth to St. Malo in Brittany. Both towns have much to offer the holiday maker. Weymouth is great for anyone of any age looking for an old fashioned bucket and spade day out or indeed holiday. Good clean beaches many of which boast the Blue Flag rating, good fish and chips and good fun. On a rainy day head for the fantastic Sea Life Centre.

St. Malo is a beautiful French town and the gateway to Brittany.  St.Malo is a great base for a holiday or a great starting point for an adventure. There are some very good, reasonably priced campsites owned by KeyCamp and EuroVillage.  Make sure you make time to stop at one of the local brasseries to sample some of the delicious and incredibly fresh, locally caught seafood or the regional gastronomic speciality crepes which can be either sweet or savoury. If you aren’t driving I would recommend finishing your meal with a digestif of locally produced Calvados, apple brandy.  It’s seriously good and very restoratative after a long journey.

My favourite place in Brittany remains Carnac, a sleepy resort just 2 hours drive south of St.Malo which is ultimately where we ended up this year - make time to see the fields of Menieres if you get down that far. Would definitely recommend using St Malo as a base or starting point for your Brittany holiday and we’ve found that Condor offers the best deals and facilities for families as a way of getting there.

* Price per person for a car and two adults each way. These fares are subject to availability and only available for travel until 28th September 2008.
