Perfect Time to Visit France as Government Cut Restaurant VAT
British tourists will be pleased with the news that the French Government has announced that VAT will be cut in restaurants and cafes across France. The cut, from 19.6% to 5.5%, came into practice on Wednesday 1st July 2009, and is music to the ears of many Brits who make the yearly pilgrimage to France via Dover to Calais in search of delicious wines, pastries and cheeses.
With the current weakness of the pound against the euro, this tax deduction should see a greater influx of UK holidaymakers visiting France looking to take advantage of the 10% saving. Plus you can now coross the Channel from -
- £30 each way with P&O Ferries
- £29 each way with SeaFrance Ferries
So as you can see, now is a fabulous time to explore all the wonders that France has to offer at a price range that can suit every budget.
