Ancient Aups

You can find Aups in the Northern part of the Var region. In fact, it is located in the very heart of Upper Var. Aups is one of the thousands of lovely looking hilltop villages you will find in Provence. Beauty aside, exploring Aups is a very pleasant experience. You will find something on every corner in the town’s narrow street ranging from fountains to small squares filled with cafes, sundials and shady trees. The village is set against a pretty backdrop right on the edge of a plateau with what remains of a medieval castle standing watch above the village.

Aubagne Travel Guide

You can find the small town of Aubagne located right in between Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. This lovely little town is surrounded by hills. The town’s big claim to fame is that it was the birthplace of Marcel Pagnol, who was an author. Whilst Pangol is not as famous as Monet or Van Gogh he nevertheless is very popular. The town has resisted building fame and fortune from its association with Pangol but you will find a number of mentions of Pangol located at various places around town.

The Roman Ruins At Arles

Arles is a lovely town that is located in the South-West of Provence and is famous for a couple of things. Most importantly are its Roman ruins but there is also an association with Van Gogh which we won’t go into. Whilst both these aspects tend to attract many tourists, even if they weren’t present in the town, Arles would still be well worth the visit. Whilst there are lots of things to do in Arles, the main star is actually Arles itself. It has some lovely open squares with cafes that are bustling with activity and interlinked by narrow streets lined with lovely homes and shops.
